Dry eyes are found in 30 percent of Canadians. Because they are so prevalent, several effective treatment options are available depending on your specific needs.

If you experience any symptoms of dry eyes, please call us to book a comprehensive eye exam so we can investigate the cause. Dry eyes are uncomfortable, irritating, and sometimes painful. They can also lead to long-term complications like eye infections and corneal ulcers if left untreated.

These are some common symptoms of dry eyes:

  • Blurred vision
  • Contact lens discomfort
  • Sore eyes
  • Excessive tearing
  • Red eyes
  • Burning sensations
  • Eye fatigue
  • Gritty feeling in the eyes

Diagnosing Dry Eyes

Dry eyes can be easily diagnosed during a routine eye exam. During this visit, your optometrist will perform some simple tests to confirm whether you have dry eyes. Afterwards, your optometrist will recommend an appropriate course of action to provide you with relief.

With so many dry eye solutions available, you’re likely to find something that will help!!

The cause of your dry eyes determines the ideal treatment. When blockages and gland disorders are involved, you must treat those underlying conditions to find lasting relief. We use the OxyGeneo Tripollar device by Pollogen, a modern RF technology, to treat meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). This device targets blockages, supports healthy oil flow, and provides long-term relief from dry eye symptoms.

At Eye Care Centre, we carry many dry eye therapy products and supplies from over-the-counter drops to specialized vitamins. We can’t stress how important eyelid hygiene is for treating dry eye conditions like blepharitis! If you have blepharitis or meibomian gland dysfunction, our professional eyelid cleaning services can reduce your discomfort and improve your symptoms.

Research supports the link between allergies and dry eyes. According to studies, dry eyes are more developed and frequent during peak allergy seasons.

Dry eyes can be caused by a number of factors, including:
